Saints are perfect humans in the eyes of God. They are men and women who achieved the eternal love of God. When they were living in this world they obeyed the two commandments of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 22:37-40, "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
සාන්තුවරයන් යනු, දෙවියන්‌ගේ ඇස් ඉදිරි‌ය‌ේ පරිපූර්ණ මනූෂයන් වේ. ඔව්හු දෙවියන් වහන්සේග‌ේ සදාකාලික ප්‍රේමය ලබාගත් කාන්තාන් හා පිරිමින් ය. ම‌ෙල‌ොව ජීවත් වන විට ඔවුහූ ජ‌ේසූස් චහන්සස‌ේග‌ේ පණත් දෙකට කීකරු වුහ.
මතෙව් 22: 37-40, "ජේසුස් වහන්සේ ඔහුට කතා කොට, '' නුඹ නුඹේ දෙවි ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේට නුඹේ මුළු හෘදයෙන් ද නුඹේ මුළු ආත්මයෙන් ද නුඹේ මුළු බුද්ධියෙන් ද ආදරේ කළ යුතුය. මෙය ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨතම පළමු වන ආඥාව ය දෙවෙනි ආඥාව වන්න‌ේ 'නුඹ, නුඹට ප්‍රේම කරන්නාක් මෙන් නුඹේ අසල්වැසියාටද ප්‍රේම කළ යුතු ය' යන්නයි.
Catholic Church is not the custodian of Holiness.Many religions and societies, religious cults have their holy people. But they all are not define as saints.
What are the special qualities of a saint?
However Saints across various cultures and religions have the following common qualities
1. an excellent role model;
2. unusually good at teaching people to live lives of goodness;
3. act as channels of God’s power
4. intercessor;
5. generous, unselfish behaviour; and
6. have a special relation to all that is holy so that they are able to interpret God and holiness for others
